The flow from one void to the other, delineated through text and space, thus becomes this economy of traces through which the meaning of the retrospective is reconstructed.” This project is about relations and juxtapositions between different scales and layers, private and public space, family and social space, cultural and useful space, leisure and work space. Our concern is not so much the built space, it is the negative space, the interstitions that happen on different levels, where social interactions will happen. Using Hong Kong’s irregular urban grid as an inspiration in our proposal, the program is spread on different levels and throughout the whole site. BY IMPLANTATION OF POCKET GARDENS IN THESE SPACES, CREATING EXTERIOR TERRACES ON THE NOW FRAGMENTED BUILDINGS WHILE ERASING THE BARRIER BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE. TAKING IN CONSIDERATION THE ADJACENT CIVIL HOSPITAL’S TYPICAL GARDEN PATHWAYS THE NEW BOTANICAL GARDEN INDUCES A GROUP OF HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL TRANSITIONS AMONG PRAGMATIC VOLUMES AND GARDENS WHICH CONNECT THE ACTUAL SMALLER BOTANICAL PARK. Se estima que para el año 2030, la población urbana crezca a 4.1 billones. Según la teoría de “Ciudades Globales” de Saskia Sassen, habrá ciudades ganadoras, aquellas que aglomeran servicios especializados y financieros, y habrá ciudades perdedoras, aquellas con infraestructura industrial y economías dependientes en la manufactura, como lo es Ciudad Juarez. Aunado a esto, se suma un clima de inestabilidad gracias a la violencia, y el resultado es un Éxodo Urbano masivo. En el último par de años, 116,000 viviendas han sido abandonadas, 230,000 personas se han ido y el 40% de los negocios han cerrado. Estos hechos han tenido efectos catastróficos sobre Ciudad Juarez. Una ciudad que carece de espacios públicos, solo el 2% de su superficie total, comparado con el 11% de superficie que son lotes baldíos. Nuestro proyecto toma el terreno propuesto como un detonador, instalando en él un nodo concentrador de tipologías, a partir del cual los componentes programáticos se van desprendiendo y se trasladan a diferentes sitios olvidados de la ciudad, apropiándose de ellos y convirtiéndose así en catalizadores para la recuperación de estos espacios.
